Deborah Niland is the youngest of five children of parents who were both writers. Growing up, she was inspired Deborah to follow a creative path. She chose drawing and painting. By the time she was ten she had already decided that book illustration was going to be her career. She has illustrated many award-winning books and now enjoys writing her own stories to illustrate. A further development has been the embracing of digital techniques which are incorporated into her artwork. She lives in Sydney with her family and assorted pets.
